When reviewing the available 2012 autotrader.com coupon codes and promotions, keep in mind that a majority of the offers are activated automatically based on your zip code. It’s pretty rare that you will need to enter a physical code into the promo code box at the time of order checkout (although it is confusing that they just put it there right in the middle of the page).

AutoTrader.com has a number of different listing options but we’ve found that the Deluxe option is by far the best. Even though it’s priced $20.00 more than the Enhanced listing, it includes the must-have Run ’til It Sells option and a full Money Back Guarantee. So if your car does not sell for the price that you wanted after a few months, then you can request a refund for the full price you paid to list the ad.

Other than the regular Deluxe option, we really like the VIP service offered from AutoTrader as it cuts down on the hassle of listing your car, truck, or RV for sale but at the same time helps you get the best price for your used car. All three listing levels, the VIP Standard, VIP Enhanced, and VIP Deluxe options include Run ’til It Sells. The only major differences is that with the Enhanced listing Autotrader.com answers and pre-screens all potential calls and email, while the VIP Deluxe listing adds this this, a condition report, and a CARFAX to your ad.

So why would you choose AutoTrader over the the other online car listing services?  How’s Autotrader vs. Cars.com vs. Craigslist?  Fist of all, cars.com is a lot smaller than AutoTrader and even though their prices are similar, you have a much better chance to be noticed on the larger site.  Craigslist is compelling as it’s free, so we definitely recommended posting your car here as well. The downside of Craigslist is that your ads get quickly lost in the sea of other ads and to have any success you will need to re-post your car every few days. Also, you can only post an ad in your city and you don’t get the state and national reach as you would with AutoTrader.com.
